Sebago Boat Tour Turns Docksides Into a Floating Object

Sebago marks its 80th anniversary by shifting its most recognizable design into a moving object. The Docksides, first created in Maine in 1946, move beyond footwear and enter a new scale through the Sebago Boat Tour, a project that begins in Milan this Milan Design Week.

The Installation launched on the Navigli canals, placing a boat inspired directly by the Docksides shape into the city’s water network. The Boat travels through Amsterdam, Florence, Paris, and London, extending across major European cultural and fashion circuits.

The concept builds around one idea: a product designed for maritime life becomes a floating structure for public space. At every stop the boat introduces activations, capsules, and encounters shaped around the same object and reinterpreted at scale.

The Docksides Becomes Architecture in Motion

The Sebago Boat Tour translates the construction of the Docksides into physical form. Rope details, nautical structure, and material references expand into a full-scale boat designed as a moving installation.

The object navigates canals, rivers, and urban waterways across each city. In Milan, the Navigli route frames the opening chapter. In Amsterdam, the canals extend the maritime reading. In Florence, the project aligns with Pitti Uomo. In Paris, it follows the Seine during Fashion Week. The tour concludes in London in early July.
