The 2025 Relaunch of Louis Vuitton x Murakami’s Iconic Collaboration

January 6, 2025 – Luxury Retail, Louis Vuitton x Murakami

It all began in 2003. Louis Vuitton, under the creative vision of Marc Jacobs, teamed up with Takashi Murakami to introduce collections infusing art into fashion. The result? The Monogram Multicolore—bold, colorful, and instantly iconic. Murakami’s whimsical characters and kaleidoscopic florals transformed Louis Vuitton’s classic pieces into wearable art.

Now, to honor the partnership’s 20th anniversary, the Louis Vuitton x Murakami collection makes a triumphant comeback in 2025. The relaunch unfolds in three dynamic chapters. The first, arriving in January, brings over 170 pieces. A Cherry Blossom-inspired range follows in March, celebrating spring with elegance. The final chapter, launching mid-year, will introduce a full spectrum of vibrant designs and elevated craftsmanship.

Murakami’s unmistakable aesthetic of floral motifs and surreal characters like the Superflat Panda leap off multi-layered designs define the collection. The Monogram Multicolore stands as the centerpiece. Murakami’s playful floral reinterpretations and bold hues breathe life into Louis Vuitton’s iconic canvas.

Bags such as the Speedy and Neverfull feature these exuberant patterns, making them showstoppers. Accessories like scarves and wallets get the same vibrant treatment. For the first time, Murakami’s motifs physically alter the Louis Vuitton logo in a bold, unexpected twist.

Chapter One introduces over 170 silhouettes. Each piece showcases Murakami’s signature motifs, from vivid floral patterns to dynamic character designs. The Monogram Multicolore takes center stage, intertwining LV’s classic canvas with 33 striking hues.

The collection highlights include a custom Malle Wardrobe, containing 33 Speedy bags, and perfumes like Attrape-Rêves and Imagination, adorned with Superflat Garden and Superflat Panda motifs. Advanced digital printing intensifies every detail, bringing Murakami’s designs to life with dazzling vibrancy.

Accessories That Make a Statement

The line extends beyond bags. Accessories offer collectors an array of whimsical yet refined pieces. The Superflat Panda motif appears on Alma BB bags, Zippy wallets, and the Porte Clés Panda key ring. A black skateboard and silk scarves with striking contrasts add edgy elements. Other playful additions include eclectic sunglasses and sleek flat sandals.

Photographed by the celebrated duo Inez and Vinoodh, Zendaya stars in a series of dynamic images set against urban landscapes. Playful and modern, the campaign intertwines Murakami’s fantastical motifs with Louis Vuitton’s timeless elegance.
