This Milan Design Week, Swarovski arrived at its Piazza Duomo flagship with something unexpected: a book. The Quest for Light by Swarovski, an immersive illustrated volume co-written by Markus Langes-Swarovski and brought to life in collaboration with celebrated illustrator Hiro Kamigaki and his studio Ic4Design. The book takes you on a seek-and-find journey from Swarovski's historic headquarters in Wattens, Austria, into a world where light and darkness are locked in battle.
The mission is to recover the four great crystals, Trust, Love, Courage, and Creation, and help the world shine again. Woven throughout the narrative are Swarovski figurines, jewelry, and iconic locations drawn from the Maison's history, making the book a fairy tale, a brand archive, and an object of desire. Launched during one of design's most competitive weeks, the project signals that Swarovski is headed toward a younger and a wider audience.
Inside the Crystal Universe
The world of The Quest for Light is built from Swarovski's own archive. As you move through the seek-and-find narrative, you encounter a selection of the Maison's most iconic figurines and jewelry pieces embedded directly into the illustrated landscape, turning each page into a discovery. The four great crystals, Trust, Love, Courage, and Creation, anchor the story, but the details reward slow looking. Familiar Swarovski objects appear in unexpected contexts, historic locations from the brand's century-long history surface throughout the journey, and the line between fairy tale and catalog dissolves entirely. The Quest for Light works as a story you read and an archive you explore.
A Home Decor Collection Turns 50
The book arrives alongside another milestone. Swarovski's home decor collection celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2026. Maison Swarovski marks the occasion by weaving a curated selection of crystal figurines directly into the pages of The Quest for Light. The two feel designed for each other: the collection brings the story into your home, and the book gives the objects a world to inhabit. Both are available in select Swarovski boutiques worldwide.
