Art & Design 2026

Business of Design Week is one of Asia's major platforms connecting design, brands, and business, with a week of conferences, exhibitions, awards, forums, and events across Hong Kong. Organized by Hong Kong Design Centre, the 2026 edition partners with Switzerland under the theme Design in Dialogue: Connect + Transform, highlighting Swiss expertise in craftsmanship, architecture, design, and innovation.

The main BODW Summit runs November 18–20 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, with more than 50 international creative leaders and business decision-makers. The 2026 program explores six themes: Reimagining Spaces, Regenerative Culture & Curation, Brand Transformation, The New Luxury & Artisanal Innovation, Designing for Longevity & Vitality, and Future-Ready Transmedia & Education.

Speakers include Wim Walschap, CEO and Senior Partner at Herzog & de Meuron; Thilo Brunner, Chief Design Officer of On; Janine Weiz-Bühler, CEO of FREITAG; landscape architect Enzo Enea; Morgan Maillard, Style & Heritage Expert at Vacheron Constantin; Jaume Domenech of Vitra; and Emily Yan, Director of Snøhetta's Hong Kong studio.

The November 16–21 calendar extends across Hong Kong through DesignInspire, the DFA Awards, DESIGN@HKG, deTour 2026, the Business of IP Asia Forum, and other events. DesignInspire will also present a special Salone del Mobile.Milano exhibition, created for Hong Kong, while DESIGN@HKG is planning more than 40 citywide activations spanning installations, design trails, pop-ups, and public spaces.

The international art world heads to Abu Dhabi for the inaugural Frieze Abu Dhabi, marking the arrival of one of contemporary art's most influential fair brands in the Middle East.

Presented by Frieze in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, the fair takes place at Manarat Al Saadiyat, in the heart of the city's expanding cultural district. More than 85 galleries from over 35 countries and regions participate, connecting established international names with artists and galleries from West Asia, North Africa, and South Asia.

The fair begins on November 19 with an invitation-only VIP preview, offering collectors, curators, and art professionals early access to the presentations ahead of the public opening.

Among the inaugural highlights is a new commission by Dala Nasser for the Frieze Abu Dhabi Artist Award, alongside In Dialogue, a curated presentation pairing established and emerging artists from the UAE. Beyond the exhibition halls, Frieze Sculpture Abu Dhabi extends the program to Mamsha Beach on Saadiyat Island.

With Louvre Abu Dhabi and the wider Saadiyat Cultural District nearby, the fair establishes a new destination on the international collecting calendar.

The 25th Seoul Design Festival focuses on contemporary Korean design and the designers and brands shaping its next generation. Founded in 2002 and developed by Designhouse and DESIGN magazine, the Festival serves as a platform where designers can turn ideas into brands and businesses, while established companies present their design identity and new work.

The exhibition covers contemporary design, graphic design, fashion, culture and product design, with young-designer programs, conferences and brand exchanges connecting emerging Korean talent with the wider design industry. The organizers describe design here not simply as a finished object, but as an exchange of ideas, values and creative thinking.

Paris welcomes the international design community from January 14–18 for Maison&Objet Premier 2027, where exceptional furniture, decorative arts, and contemporary craftsmanship meet the latest ideas in luxury interiors.

Under the theme Sensory Shift, the January edition explores a more intimate relationship with materials, objects, and the spaces we inhabit. Some 2,300 brands from 49 countries will present their collections, with particular attention to collectible design, bespoke furnishings, and the artisans preserving exceptional savoir-faire.

British designer Paul Cocksedge, named Designer of the Year 2027, will unveil Tension, an installation that uses melting ice to explore movement, time, and the forces shaping our environment.

Among the highlights, Curatio, under the artistic direction of Thomas Haarmann, examines the relationship between functional objects and collectible art. In Materia, conceived by Elizabeth Leriche, celebrates the expressive qualities of materials and traditional craftsmanship. The Manufactures d'Excellence showcase will spotlight French heritage workshops recognized for their expertise.

Beyond the exhibition halls, Maison&Objet In the City, January 13–18, invites design professionals to discover 100 exceptional Parisian addresses, from prestigious maisons and independent galleries to interior design studios and master artisans.

Singapore Art Week celebrates its 15th edition with 11 days of contemporary art across the city. The week spreads through museums, cultural institutions, private galleries, independent art spaces, public locations, and private homes, creating a citywide program around Singapore and Southeast Asia's contemporary art scene.

The National Arts Council has placed particular emphasis on collaboration between Singaporean and Southeast Asian artists, curators, and producers, as well as interdisciplinary and participatory projects.

BRAFA Art Fair returns to Brussels for its 72nd edition, welcoming international collectors and art connoisseurs to Brussels Expo from January 24–31, 2027, following two exclusive preview days on January 22 and 23.

Celebrated for its eclectic approach to collecting, BRAFA brings together approximately 150 distinguished galleries presenting everything from Old Master paintings and ancient sculpture to modern masterpieces, Art Deco furniture, rare objects, and exceptional jewelry. Among the participating dealers are Colnaghi, Almine Rech, Axel Vervoordt, and Opera Gallery, reflecting the fair's appeal across artistic periods and collecting disciplines.

The 2027 Guest of Honor, Musée d'Ixelles, will present selected works from its collection ahead of its reopening in March, including Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's iconic lithograph Moulin Rouge. La Goulue and James Ensor's painting Christ Calming the Storm.

The fair begins with the invitation-only Collectors' Preview on Friday, January 22, followed by an exclusive opening day on Saturday, January 23. These early sessions offer collectors the opportunity to discover the participating galleries and their selections before the general opening.

Art Basel Qatar enters its second edition with a more ambitious curatorial vision, positioning Doha at the intersection of the Middle East's art scene and the international collecting market.

Under the artistic direction of Iraqi curator Wassan Al-Khudhairi, the 2027 edition explores between / بين, a theme examining the exchange of cultural identities, histories, and artistic perspectives across borders.

The fair features 80 solo-artist presentations by 82 galleries from 37 countries and territories, with approximately half of the participating artists originating from the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia.

Among the international galleries are Gagosian, David Zwirner, White Cube, Lisson Gallery, Pace, and Sprüth Magers, alongside regional galleries including The Third Line, Lawrie Shabibi, Green Art Gallery, Athr, and Sfeir-Semler Gallery.

The artistic program spans established masters and contemporary voices, with presentations dedicated to Andy Warhol, Maurizio Cattelan, Anish Kapoor, Lucio Fontana, Dana Awartani, Monira Al Qadiri, Hassan Hajjaj, and Ibrahim El-Salahi, among others.

Beyond the exhibitions, Art Basel Qatar introduces the Collectors Majlis, an invitation-only initiative connecting emerging collectors with leading figures in the art market through masterclasses, private encounters, and cultural experiences.

Geneva's winter art season takes center stage from January 28–31 as Art Genève celebrates its 15th edition at Palexpo, assembling more than 80 international galleries specializing in modern and contemporary art.

Known for its intimate atmosphere and discerning selection, the Swiss fair offers collectors an opportunity to discover established artists alongside emerging talent, with works spanning painting, sculpture, photography, video, and digital art. Its distinctive character lies in the dialogue between commercial galleries and cultural institutions, with private collections, museums, and foundations contributing specially conceived exhibitions.

The 2027 program will feature Sur-Mesure, a section dedicated to monumental installations curated by Nicolas Trembley, alongside the Mobilière Prize, which recognizes emerging Swiss artists. The Music program, developed with composer Augustin Maurs and curator Catherine Othenin-Girard, extends the artistic experience through performances and sound installations.

A dedicated art publishing section and a series of talks complete the program, offering perspectives on contemporary collecting and the international art market.

Contemporary art ventures into the Swiss Alps as Elevation 1049 presents Vertigo, opening January 29–31, 2027, in Gstaad.

Known for staging ambitious artistic projects outside conventional gallery spaces, Elevation 1049 transforms the Alpine landscape into an unconventional setting for contemporary art. Its exhibitions explore the relationship between artistic expression, architecture, nature, and the surrounding environment, inviting audiences to encounter works in locations rarely associated with traditional exhibitions.

Organized by LUMA & Foundation, the upcoming edition continues this site-specific approach, with international contemporary art presented across unexpected locations in and around Gstaad.

The opening weekend coincides with the beginning of the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad, placing the resort at the intersection of contemporary art and classical music during one of its most prestigious winter periods.

An exceptional gathering of international galleries, collectible design, and high jewelry, MAZE Art Gstaad has established itself as a distinctive fixture of the Alpine winter art scene.

For its fourth edition, the intimate salon assembles an impressive roster of exhibitors, including Gagosian, Hauser & Wirth, Acquavella, Pace Gallery, White Cube, Perrotin, and Gladstone Gallery. The selection spans modern and contemporary art, historical masterpieces, antiquities, and collectible furniture, alongside exceptional jewelry from Buccellati and Nikos Koulis.

Rather than the overwhelming scale of a conventional art fair, MAZE favors a more personal atmosphere, where collectors can engage directly with galleries, discover rare works, and explore different collecting disciplines under one roof.

The invitation-only opening evening sets the social tone, followed by the MAZE/Art Awards F.P. Journe, adding a cultural and philanthropic dimension to the program.

Hollywood may command the spotlight, but Los Angeles has become an essential destination for contemporary art collectors. Frieze Los Angeles reflects that cultural influence, connecting the city's established art scene with an international network of galleries, artists, and institutions.

Now in its eighth edition, the fair assembles approximately 100 galleries, with presentations spanning established contemporary artists and emerging talent. Among the announced exhibitors are Gagosian, 303 Gallery, Galerie Max Hetzler, Gallery Hyundai, and Anat Ebgi.

The main Galleries section features solo, dual, and group presentations. By contrast, Focus champions younger US-based galleries through dedicated solo exhibitions. This distinction gives collectors an opportunity to discover new artistic voices alongside established names.

Under the direction of Christine Messineo, the fair extends beyond gallery stands. Site-specific installations, artist conversations, and collaborations with nonprofit institutions contribute to its cultural program. Across Los Angeles, independent galleries, museums, and private collections add another dimension to Frieze Week.

Hong Kong Art Week adds Art Central to the calendar from March 24 to 28, 2027, inside its purpose-built pavilion on Central Harbourfront, overlooking Victoria Harbour. The invitation-only Preview is scheduled for March 23, a day ahead of the public program and within walking distance of Art Basel Hong Kong.

The 2027 edition puts the focus on contemporary art from Asia and beyond, from artists with recent institutional recognition at Central Stage to new names presented through Neo. Yi Tai is dedicated to large-scale sculpture and site-specific installations, while solo and duo presentations sit alongside the Hong Kong Artist Commission, video art, performance, and talks. The participating galleries, artists, and individual projects are still being announced.

Art Basel Hong Kong places Asia-Pacific at the center of the international art market, with galleries from the region and around the world presenting Modern and contemporary work at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The fair extends across its established gallery sectors and large-scale artistic projects, complemented by Conversations, films and a public program. Its position within Hong Kong's wider art week also makes late March one of the city's busiest periods for gallery openings, museum events, private dinners, brand activations and collector gatherings. PAD Paris will return to the Jardin des Tuileries from March 31 to April 4, bringing together a tightly edited selection of international and French galleries specializing in historical and contemporary design.

Founded in Paris in 1998, PAD was the first fair dedicated exclusively to design and has since established itself as a fixture of the international collecting calendar. Its strength lies in the dialogue between periods: museum-quality 20th-century furniture, contemporary collectible design, decorative arts, ceramics, jewelry, and exceptional objects are presented side by side rather than separated into conventional categories.

Collecting at PAD Paris

PAD is considerably more intimate than Paris's major art fairs, and that scale is part of its identity. Galleries construct highly considered interiors rather than conventional booths, placing works in conversation across periods, materials, and disciplines. The approach has made the fair particularly relevant to collectors, interior designers, architects, art advisers, and institutions looking beyond individual pieces toward the way design is collected and lived with.

The Tuileries location also places PAD at the center of Paris's spring art calendar, with Art Paris beginning at the Grand Palais on April 1. For collectors attending both fairs, the dates create a concentrated week spanning collectible design and modern and contemporary art.

Art Paris will mark its 29th edition at the Grand Palais from April 1 to 4, welcoming around 170 modern and contemporary art exhibitors from some 20 countries. For 2027's edition, Australia takes center stage as Guest of Honor, introducing a broader perspective on a contemporary art scene still relatively underrepresented in Europe. Alongside it, the French scene receives its own thematic focus through Multitudes – Le Corps Social, examining the social body through works presented by participating galleries.

New Perspectives for 2027

The 2027 edition also widens its scope with Histories, which will revisit art from the 1960s through the 1990s from a contemporary perspective. Promises continues its focus on emerging international talent, while Design x Art Edition turns to contemporary design. Exhibitions, prizes, and talks will extend the program throughout the Grand Palais.

Among this year's prizes, the Her Art Prize, created by Marie Claire in partnership with Boucheron, will recognize a female artist represented at the fair. The winner will receive a €30,000 award from Boucheron, accompanied by an international communications campaign developed with Art Paris and Marie Claire.

The VIP and Prestige Preview will run on March 31 from 11 AM to 9 PM, before the public opening on April 1. VIP, Prestige, and Daily Preview invitation holders will also benefit from early entry between 10 AM and noon each morning throughout the fair.

Beyond the Grand Palais, In Paris During Art Paris extends the VIP program across the city. Reserved for invited collectors and art professionals, the program includes private visits and events at Parisian museums, galleries, foundations, and cultural institutions.

Art Monte-Carlo celebrates its 11th edition with a carefully selected group of approximately 30 international galleries specializing in modern and contemporary art.

Established in 2016, the fair has cultivated a distinctive identity within Monaco's collecting community, favoring an intimate salon format over the scale of larger international art fairs.

Held under the high patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, the fair connects established galleries, collectors, and cultural institutions in a setting shaped by the principality's longstanding relationship with art and private collecting.

A significant addition to the 2027 program is the LUX × Art Monte-Carlo Acquisition Prize, developed in collaboration with LUX Magazine. A jury of 36 international figures from art, culture, and philanthropy will select an emerging artist from southern France, Monaco, or northern Italy, whose work will be acquired by the fair.

The award's shortlist will be revealed in early 2027, with the winning artist honored during the April edition.

The Hamptons summer art season begins with the Hamptons Fine Art Fair VIP Opening, welcoming collectors, gallery owners, and art enthusiasts to Southampton for an early look at modern and contemporary works before the fair's public opening.

On July 8, invited guests and VIP ticket holders receive first access to the fair's presentations, with an afternoon preview followed by an evening reception. The event offers collectors an opportunity to discover and acquire works ahead of the weekend crowds, while reconnecting with the East End's art community.

Held across the Southampton Fairgrounds, the fair features established and emerging artists represented by national and international galleries. Its presentations span painting, sculpture, photography, and works on paper, with dedicated displays highlighting significant twentieth-century artists alongside contemporary talent.

The 2027 program will also feature an outdoor sculpture park, curated presentations, and special events throughout the four-day fair.
