Aurélien Claims Brompton Road, Its First London Flagship

The Mediterranean-Minded Maison Puts Down Roots in Knightsbridge

Aurélien, the Dutch luxury Maison known for Mediterranean ease, Italian craftsmanship and its own take on Smart Luxury, spent years testing London before committing to it. Pop-ups came first, at Harrods, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols. Then came Amsterdam, home to the Maison's first flagship. Weeks after expanding its presence at Harrods, Aurélien finally gets its own London address at 59 Brompton Road, just steps away.

The Aurélien London flagship spans 3,228 square feet across three floors. Light oak panelling, herringbone parquet, travertine and brass set the tone, with warm lighting throughout. At its center, a handcrafted oak light installation rises through two levels. The palette is quiet, warm and distinctly Aurélien.

The Aurélien Icons Land In London

First, the loafers. Aurélien's City Loafer takes its cues from the vintage boat shoe and has become one of the Maison's signatures. Each pair is handcrafted in Italy from Softey® French calfskin suede, with exposed hand stitching and a flexible natural rubber sole. There are more than 20 colors to choose from, including light beige, chocolate, pistachio, olive, steel blue and sea green.

The Yacht Loafer takes a softer approach. The suede is left unlined, the construction is lighter, and the rubber sole draws on traditional sailing shoes. Here, the colors range from ultramarine and aquamarine to caramel, port and baby blue.

Ready-to-wear fills out the rest of the wardrobe. Cashwool®, cashmere and extrafine merino appear across the knitwear, with polos, lightweight layers and easy pieces made for the same Mediterranean way of dressing. For summer, the ivory linen Seaside Trousers come with an ecru buttonless polo and white suede Yacht Loafers. Belts and accessories complete the collection in the same suede, leather and neutral tones.

Aurélien Takes Smart Luxury Offline

Smart Luxury is Aurélien's name for a fairly simple idea: Italian craftsmanship, natural materials, considered design and pieces meant to be worn rather than saved for an occasion. The new flagship gives that philosophy a physical setting. Oak, travertine and brass echo the understated palette of the collections, while three floors allow the Maison to show the full range together for the first time in London.

The address also marks a change in scale. Aurélien built much of its international business online, adding pop-ups and selected department-store partnerships with Harrods, Selfridges and Nordstrom along the way. Its Amsterdam flagship proved there was room for a permanent store. Now London gets one too, in Knightsbridge, with Harrods practically next door.
